Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have questions. Here are answers to the ones we hear most often.

Getting Started

How do I know if my child needs therapy?

If you have concerns about your child's communication, motor skills, sensory processing, or daily functioning, a consultation or evaluation can help. Trust your instincts—parents are often the first to notice when something feels different. We're happy to discuss your concerns during a free consultation to help determine if an evaluation would be beneficial.

What does a free consultation involve?

Our free consultation is a 15-20 minute phone call where we learn about your child and your concerns. We'll discuss what you're noticing, answer your questions, and help you understand whether an evaluation or therapy might be helpful. There's no pressure or obligation.

What happens during an evaluation?

Evaluations typically last 60-90 minutes and involve play-based activities, observations, and sometimes standardized assessments. We also gather information from you about your child's history, strengths, and challenges. After the evaluation, we'll discuss findings and recommendations with you and provide a written report.

How often will my child need therapy?

This depends on your child's needs and goals. Most children benefit from 1-2 sessions per week. We'll discuss frequency recommendations based on the evaluation findings and adjust over time as your child progresses.

Our Approach

What does 'neurodiversity-affirming' mean?

Neurodiversity-affirming means we view neurological differences (like autism, ADHD, and learning differences) as natural variations in human development, not disorders to be fixed. We focus on supporting your child's wellbeing, building on their strengths, and helping them develop skills that improve their quality of life—without trying to make them appear 'normal.'

Do you use ABA therapy?

No, we do not provide ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). Our approaches are child-led, play-based, and focused on internal motivation rather than behavior modification. We use evidence-based methods that respect your child's autonomy and neurological differences.

What is gestalt language processing?

Gestalt language processing is a style of language development where children learn language in chunks or scripts (like song lyrics or movie quotes) rather than starting with single words. Many autistic children and late talkers are gestalt language processors. We're trained in the Natural Language Acquisition framework to support these learners.

Can parents be present during sessions?

Absolutely! Parents are always welcome to observe and participate. We believe parent involvement is crucial—you're with your child far more than we are, so coaching you on strategies to use at home is a big part of what we do.

Services & Scheduling

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes! We offer teletherapy for families throughout Arkansas. For many goals and many children, teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. We'll help you determine which format is best for your child.

What ages do you work with?

We work with children from infancy through school age. Early intervention (0-3 years) and preschool-age children are a particular focus, but we also support school-age children.

Do you coordinate with schools or other providers?

Yes, with your permission we're happy to communicate with your child's school, teachers, pediatrician, or other therapy providers to ensure coordinated care.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee. We understand that life happens with young children, so we try to be flexible when emergencies arise.

Insurance & Payment

What insurance do you accept?

We are in-network with Arkansas BCBS (all plans), Arkansas Medicaid, PASSE Programs, TEFRA, UMR, United Healthcare, Ambetter, QualChoice, and Medicare. We can also provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

How do I know if therapy is covered by my insurance?

Before starting services, we verify your benefits and let you know what to expect for coverage. We'll explain any copays, deductibles, or session limits so there are no surprises.

What if I don't have insurance?

We offer transparent self-pay rates. Many families choose private pay for the flexibility it provides. See our Insurance & Pricing page for current rates.
